Date : September 11, 2013   On behalf of my fellow members of the Rotary eClub of Pune, a warm welcome to all who have shown keen interest in our activities and would like to know more about us.

I am honoured to be the Charter President of this dynamic club which is the 100th in the Rotary district 3131 and the first eclub in Pune. The journey so far has been a learning curve for us and we all members have learnt a lot about Rotary and Rotarians during the club formation.

On a personal note, having been a Rotarian myself for last 13 years , this task is a big challenge and provides an opportunity to be a trend setter in our district. With the formation of the eClub we are now able to reconnect with our old Rotary friends who for some or the other reason had left rotary and I am happy to note that many ex-Rotarians have shown keen interest in joining back Rotary as a part of the eClub.

Being the first eClub in the district we have a lot of questions with no answers and its a exciting time for us as Rotarians to find the right answers and decide the road ahead. We have members ranging from various parts of the world but are some way or the other connected to Pune. We are already enjoying a good fellowship by knowing each other and all members volunteering to take up various tasks.

For me a Rotary eClub is as good as any other regular Rotary club, the only difference is we members meet online and once in a month an in-person meeting. The success of the eClub will completely depend on the strong foundation laid down by each member and we ensure that we strictly follow the ethics of Rotary in all aspects. The technology is just a tool , an enabler for us to meet and interact. The technology allows our members to participate in our meetings 24X7 from any where in the world.

I recently came across a quote by Rotary Founder - Paul Harris

Rotary Founder - Paul Harris
The Rotarian Magazine - 1945

"I would like to think that the pioneering days of Rotary have only just begun. There are just as many new things to be done as ever there were. Kaleidoscopic changes are taking place, many of them without our will. Even to hang on to the fringe of this fast-changing world is about all most of us can do. Rotary simply must continue to pioneer or be left in the rear of progress."

Even today in the year 2013 when Rotary has completed more than 100 years - this is so perfectly applicable and so very true with our district moving towards the new age of eClub.

So for me , my main goal is to lay a strong foundation of service and fellowship with all the members of the club and to ensure successful Rotary years ahead. The Rotary President - Ron Burton - has a theme for this year - Engage Rotary, Change Lives- and we have begun on the right track with the formation on eClub !!

I would urge you all to come forward and be a part of this eClub , please JOIN US and also CONTRIBUTE whole heartedly to the cause of Rotary , to the cause of Humanitarian service.

Thank you and enjoy Rotary !!
